DESCRIPTION:<p align="center"><b>PUBLIC NOTICE</b></p><p>THE BOARD OF APPEALS FOR CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND has been petitioned by Eric Lundy of Heritage Memorial Cemetery, LLC, requesting variance approval to bring the site into zoning compliance allowing the Resource Protection Zone (RPZ) to be disturbed as the site is currently being used as a gravel lot storage yard. Variance approval is required as outlined in Article II, §297-182 and Article XXV of the <i>Charles County Zoning </i>Ordinance. The proposed project site is located at <b>13472 Poplar Hill Road in Waldorf, Maryland</b>, designated as <b>Tax Map 16, Grid 4, Parcel 2</b>, consisting of approximately <b>79.84 +/- acres</b> of land. The property is located within the <b>Rural Conservation (RC) Zone</b>.&nbsp;</p><p>The Board of Appeals hereby announces that a <b>public hearing</b> will be held on <b>Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.</b> The hearing will be conducted <b>in person only</b>; a virtual attendance option will <b>not</b> be available. In-person attendees should report to the <b>Charles County Government Building Auditorium</b>, located at <b>200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland 20646</b>. The hearing is <b>open to the public</b>, and <b>public testimony is encouraged</b>.</p><p>Members of the public may register to speak or submit comments online at: <a href="https://charlescountymd.info/BOAPublicComment" target="_new">https://charlescountymd.info/BOAPublicComment</a>. Each speaker will be given three (3) minutes to address the Board. If a registered speaker is not present when called, the County may proceed to the next speaker.
